Elon Musk calls for breakup of Amazon

In the past week, Twitter addict and Billionaire Entrepreneur Elon Musk said that he is going to be "off Twitter" for a while. That while lasted a full 3 days.

  • Musk has come back in full force and now, dominating the news headlines with his latest posts calling to break up Jeffs' Amazon, because 'Monopolies are bad' he proclaimed. Others - including merchants, activists, and Democratic politicians - have also called for the breakup of Amazon, pointing to its growing excess control over the e-commerce industry. But in Musk's case, the tipping point was a book that amazon refused to sell on its portal.
  • Musk's tweets came in response to a series of posts by former New York Times reporter, Alex Berenson, in which he complained that amazons self-publishing platform, KINDLE had rejected his submission for a book title "Unreported truth about COVID-19 and Lockdown"
  • In the first week of June, Alex took to the Kindle platform to publish his short book. However. he later received a mail from the company. saying his book had been removed for failing to comply with the guidelines. "They Censored it !" Alex claimed in a tweet. "It is based entirely on scientific papers and govt published data. It doesn't say the virus isn't real or doesn't kill people. In fact, the worst is yet to strike. And Amazon won't run it.
  • This issue caught Elons' attention, who is been against the govt. lockdown to contain the Coronavirus. In the past weeks, he has criticized the shelter in place orders as "fascist", and gone as far as to reopen his Tesla factory in California in defiance of local country orders. "This is insane", Musk wrote in response to Berenson, while tagging Amazon CEO in the same tweet. Moments later, Elon escalated his feud and accused Amazon of being a monopoly that needs to be dissolved.
  • The SpaceX and Tesla chief certainly shares with Berenson a passion for shouting out unpopular opinions on Covid-19. Early in the pandemic, Musk publicly said "the COVID panic is dumb" and predicted that infection cases would not exceed 0.1 percent of the US population or 300,000 people. As of now, more than 1.9 million Americans have tested positive for the virus.

Musk's tweet in favor of Alex appeared to have saved the new book. Hours later, Alex received a new email from Amazon that said the company was re-posting his book. No explanation was provided to him about why his book was pulled. But according to The Wall Street Journal, the company removed it in error.
