Contribution of corporates towards Corona Pandemic

Several corporate from different sectors are pitching to help and assist the government and nation to fight the pandemic. From contributing funds to making sanitizers and masks, many companies have come together to help govt and citizens to fight the virus which is spreading at a mushrooming rate.

For instance, Chair of India's oldest philanthropic outfit, Mr Ratan Tata has earmarked Rs 500 Crore towards tackling the outbreak and addition Rs 1000 Cr in the name of Tata Group to support activities together with Tata Trust. They also quoted that they are getting ready to manufacture ventilators soon.

IT czar, Mr. Azim Premji pledged Rs 1000 Crore through his philanthropic arm, the Azim Premji Foundation and further Wipro Ltd has pledged another Rs 100 Crore, while Wipro enterprise ltd has donated 25 Crore.

Ambani's RIL has also committed to support the government and people in fighting the crisis. They announced through a press release that sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in collab with BMC has set up a 100 bed center in Mumbai at Seven Hills Hospital. Mukesh Ambani has personally donated Rs 500 Crore to the PM cares Fund. Further, they have also offered to install medical facilities to quarantine traveler from across the world in India and Rs 5 Crore initial support to the Maharashtra and Gujarat CM Relief Fund. In addition, the Foundation is providing free meals to people in different cities in collab with NGO's during the crisis.

VIjay Shekhar Sharma, Paytm founder announced that it is going to pledge Rs 5 Crore for development of medical solutions.


Anil Agarwal, CEO of Vedanta Resource Limited pledged Rs. 100 crore towards fighting the pandemic.

Commencing on the same, India's largest bicycle manufacturers HERO Cycles has committed Rs 100 Crore contingency fund to tackle the virus.

Meanwhile, HMC Chairman and MD, Pankaj Munjal quotes " As an organisation that stands for the principles of business with a humane approach, we are allocating Rs 100 Crore as a contingency fund to help the entire ecosystem around our organisation survive this crisis. We are also reaching out to offer all possible help."

Another giant, "Mahindra and Mahindra is planning to immediately start operating on making ventilators. Chair of the group, Anand Mahindra also announced that their holiday resorts will be offered to govt as care facilities for the time being.

"The foundation will create a fund to assist the hardest hit it in our value chain, the self employed and the small businessman" Mahindra quoted. He added he would gradually increase collections in the fund to assist SME's. (Small and Medium Enterprise)

FMC players like Godrej Group, Patanjali and Hindustan Unilever are reducing prices of hygiene products like soap, sanitizers etc. They have also speed up production of these demands to fulfill the rising demand.

Diageo India has planned to donate 5 lakh ltr of ENA (Extra Neutral Alcohol) to the sanitizer manufacturer industry to enable the production of over 2M units of bottle sanitizers of 250ml. In addition to this, the firm itself had pledged to produce over 3 Lakh ltr of hand sanitizers across fifteen of its manufacturer units across the nation to help cope with the rising demand. It is also planning to donate 1.5 lakh Masks to 5 public state departments.


Xiaomi, the chines tech giant also quoted that it will make N-95 masks and hazmat suits available to the hospitals across the country to help professionals. The above announcement was made by Xiaomi India MD Mr. Manu Jain.

The popular short video social networking app, TikTok is donating 4 Lakh hazmat medical protective suits and 2 Lakh masks to protect front line medical staff and doctors and it also quoted that they are open to extending further support by way of additional donations in coming time.

Not just big corporate giants but small and medium size firms are also joining the battle against the pandemic as the situation intensifies. Many firms are providing free meals, making sanitizers or engaged in distributing masks. More firms are expected to come together in the battle against the pandemic in India in days to come.
